Patients who suffer from severe allergies often seek long-term solutions that can offer more effective symptom relief than traditional treatments. Intralymphatic Immunotherapy (ILIT) is an innovative allergy treatment that provides faster results compared to conventional immunotherapy. If you have struggled with chronic nasal/eye allergies related to environmental exposures (ex., hay fever), ILIT may be an effective option for you.
At our Highlands clinic, we are proud to offer ILIT as a treatment option, giving patients access to cutting-edge therapy. Our team of board-certified allergists and immunologists will work with you to determine if ILIT is the right approach for your allergy care.
What is ILIT?
ILIT is a highly specialized form of immunotherapy that involves the injection of allergen extracts directly into superficial lymph nodes. This precise delivery helps to quickly build up your immune system’s tolerance to allergens, reducing the number of treatments required for lasting symptom relief. ILIT is particularly appealing to patients seeking a shorter treatment duration compared to subcutaneous or sublingual immunotherapy.
What can you expect during your visit?
When you come to our clinic for ILIT, we will begin by thoroughly reviewing your medical history and allergy profile. This visit may include bloodwork or allergy skin testing to confirm your allergic triggers. Your care plan will be customized based on the specific allergens affecting you.
During an ILIT session, the allergen is injected into a superficial lymph node in a minimally invasive procedure. The three (3) standard treatment sessions are typically spaced four (4) weeks apart, by the end of which you should expect to achieve significant results.
Benefits of ILIT:
*Faster symptom relief with fewer treatment sessions
*Targeted delivery of allergens into superficial lymph nodes with less chance of allergic reaction than traditional subcutaneous immunotherapy (“allergy shots”)
*Reduction of the overall burden of allergy management
Is ILIT right for you?
ILIT can be particularly beneficial for patients with problematic allergies who have not responded well to traditional therapies. It is suitable for both children and adults, and our experienced team will work with you to develop a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs and lifestyle.
