Dr. Kendall was previously an Associate Professor of Medicine and Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, TN.
Dr. Kendall did her undergraduate training at the University of Texas at Austin and went to medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. She did her residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University followed by a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at Vanderbilt.
Dr. Kendall’s research focuses on the role of B lymphocytes in autoimmune disease. Specific research interests include determining how B cell signaling mediated by Bruton’s tyrosine kinase contributes to autoimmune disease, including inflammatory arthritis and type 1 diabetes, as well as the relationship with the inflammatory microbiome.
Dr. Kendall is also investigating the role of immune cells as biomarkers and therapeutic targets of lung disease in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and systemic sclerosis with and without interstitial lung disease.
Dr. Kendall’s research is funded by the NIH and a VA Merit Award. She is an active mentor of post-doctoral fellows and graduate students.
